Alex teaches video chat lessons from his studio in Los Angeles.

Alex is an accomplished guitarist, banjo and mandolin player who is passionate about helping others discover and develop the ability to make music. While earning a bachelor’s degree from UCLA, Alex was a fellow in the Gluck Fellows Program at the Herb Alpert School of Music. He lives in Los Angeles and has performed throughout the LA area in venues ranging from concert halls to elementary school assemblies to retirement communities. Alex is interested in rock, pop, blues, and country, and he has spent the past four years studying the Old Time and Bluegrass traditions of American folk music. Alex’s goal as a teacher is to help his students have fun making recognizable progress that encourages and grows their desire to learn. Regardless of a student’s age and skill level, Alex tailors his teaching to the needs and interests of each individual to ensure they develop the knowledge and technique that will expand the role of music in their lives. Alex can also transcribe anything a student wants to learn if the music is not available.
